Chris Cowperthwaite is Founder and CEO of Groundforce Digital Ltd. and the Co-Founder of the Open Democracy Project. He works at the intersection of community organizing and technology, advising and training teams on the tools and craft of campaigning. In the 2014 Canadian municipal campaign cycle, Chris worked with 17 municipal campaigns in Ontario and British Columbia. His other recent national and regional projects include DemocracyKit (Open Democracy Project), Get Out The Vote (Canadian Alliance of Student Associations), We Are Cities (Evergreen CityWorks), Common Ground (Ontario Liberal Party), United Future (The United Church of Canada) and Voice Your Choice (Dying With Dignity Canada). In the community, Chris has served as a Board Director for the Loran Scholars Foundation (2013 – 2015) and Ten Oaks Project (2008 – 2010). He is currently the Loran Alumni Coordinator in Toronto. Chris holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business (York University), a B.Sc. (Honours) and Diploma in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Waterloo, and is a Loran Scholar (’99).
